Focus on Mr. Akins!
"I was kind of scared, but it turned out that he is just a big goofy redneck that turns out to be an awesome teacher!"

She is a funny person! She makes me laugh all the time! She is one of the funniest people that I have ever met in my lifetime! Brygette is sweet and kind to everyone that she knows!"

Welcome Mrs. Ray
"I volunteered and substituted [here] so I feel like GSMS is my family and to be up here every day is an opportunity of a life time."

Down and Dirty
"I had so much fun and it was great exercise, I will definitely be riding next year."

Students to the Rescue!
Mr. Tim Akins (8th grade science teacher) has had chemistry students from Gulf Shores High School (GSHS) come to Gulf Shores Middle School and work with students in his science classes.

Focus on Harleigh
"Harleigh is one of my best friends, she is really outgoing and never backs down from anyone even if that person is really huge and wants to fight. But she is a great friend anyway!"

Rocket Man Heads to Tennessee
"Ever since I began the application process, I have been the one wanting to pursue this, not my parents."

The Bowl of Scholars
"I had tons of fun at the tournament! I really enjoyed answering questions. I think we did really well!"

Focus on Joseph Swiger
"Joseph is a great friend and always makes me laugh. He's so loveable and I can depend on him for anything."

Generous Gestures
Items that fall under this category are items for the library, such as new research computers, new reference books, and new books and A.R. tests. Items for the science classes include: new lab equipment and technology, and for Mrs. Ralston, a new plastic skeleton model. Literature needs include more classroom books and audio players to listen to books on tape, like the three books that have already been read in Mrs. Tuggle's class.

Tasty Treats
Jesse Newsome placed 1st for her Chocolate Italian Cream Cake. 2nd place went to Katie Jones for her Chocolate Lovers Cheese Cake. There was a close 3 way tie for 3rd place. The winners were Brianna Myers, Julia Mewbourn, and Tiffany Graves. Haley Frichter received Honorable Mention.

Aiming for a One!
"The District Assessment is a great opportunity for the 7th graders to see how much they've learned in the two years they have been in band. This will provide an opportunity for them to see what they have to look forward to in upcoming years."

Time to Sharpen Your Pencils!
"I think that the number one mistake that all students make at Gulf Shores Middle School is that they don't stay on topic or subject and we need to work on that!"

To Bee or Not to Bee
Many bright students representing their classes battled it out, but in the end it was Bailey Smith, 8th grade, who was victorious.

Focus on Matt Walters
"Matt is a very spirited young man, he always adds a little character to my class."

Focus On Mrs. Tucker
"Oh! I just LOVE to shop! It's like my favorite thing!"

Mr. Fountain's Vision
My vision for this school is to create an environment for learning, where my students want to come to school and not like they have to come to school. [A place] where they know that their teachers and administrators care for them. We are trying to prepare the students for life. If I can affect at least one student's life in a positive way, I will feel I have done my job."
