"Matt is a very spirited young man, he always adds a little character to my class."
Focus on Matt Walters
Matt Walters is one of the many individually interesting students at Gulf Shores Middle School (GSMS). He has gone to GSMS since he was in sixth grade, and he is now one of the many big bad eighth graders on campus. Some people on campus may not know Matt personally, but he is pretty hard to miss in the hallways with his bright red hair.
Nicole Wallace, an eighth grader at GSMS, and one of Matt's friends said this about his hair, "He has very pretty hair for a guy, very shiny red hair, and it kind of reminds me of strawberries and carrots. I can always spot it in the hallways, even when he is far away."
On any sunny day, Matt would much rather be outside hunting or fishing than cooped up inside a house with nothing to do. Although he would rather be outside, when the sun isn't shining he likes to play games on his X-Box and do standup comedy with Matt Nugent, another eighth grader at GSMS. Other than hunting and fishing, he likes to play basketball and baseball. This year, Matt was on the GSMS eighth grade basketball team, and he has been playing baseball since he was three years old.
Matt's favorite academic subject is science. Mrs. Karin Ralston, an eighth grade science teacher, said this about having Matt in her class, "Matt is a very spirited young man, he always adds a little character to my class." Matt also likes to go visit his dad and while there he and his friend Chris Childress spend time riding dirt bikes and fishing. Chris, an eighth grader at GSMS and one of Matt's closest friends said this about him, "Me and Matt always have a good time dancing at his house. Me and Matt have been friends for as long as I can remember, I knew we would be friends even when I was in my mom's tummy, I had a feeling that there would be a little red headed guy out in the world that I would be best friends with one day. Even when I become a famous Nascar driver I will definitely still remember him. I love that little red headed buddy."
