Mr. Fountain's Vision

Mr. Phillip Fountain, principal at GSMS, has a vision for this school. He said, "My vision for this school is to create an environment for learning, where my students want to come to school and not like they have to come to school. [A place] where they know that their teachers and administrators care for them. We are trying to prepare the students for life. If I can affect at least one student's life in a positive way, I will feel I have done my job."

Mr. Fountain has always wanted to be a principal.  His time at Foley Middle School (FMS) helped him gain experience and prepare him to work with a different group of people. "Every school is diverse, and so is the actual student body. The students are the same though," said Mr. Fountain.

Mr. Fountain wants every student to take hold of every good opportunity they can get. He said, "I can offer a horse a pail of water, but I can't make it drink. If I offer students an opportunity it's their choice to take hold of it or not. And I expect them to do what's best for them."

Being principal of GSMS requires him to attend a lot of events. He sacrifices time with his family to do what he has wanted to do all his life. Mr. Fountain's family is very supportive of him and helps him through every step. Mr. Fountain wants to continue being a principal for the rest of his career. He loves kids and loves reaching out and seeing children succeed at their goals. Seventh grader, Kelsey Alexander said, "I really enjoy Mr. Fountain being our principal. He has done a great job with the school so far" .

Mr. Fountain is a great principal for GSMS and a wonderful man all around.
