Focus On Mrs. Tucker

Mrs. Pam Tucker, an 8th grade English teacher, is the highlight of our focus story this week. She has been teaching for 16 years total; eight of those years, she has taught at Gulf Shores Middle School (GSMS ). Erin McKee, an 8th grade student, said, "Mrs. Tucker is an amazing and hilarious teacher. I will always remember her!"

Mrs. Tucker was born in Orleans, France. She was born in a different country because her father was in the Army; France was where he was stationed. She and her family moved backed to Virginia when she was 3 years old. She attended The University of Mobile where she earned her undergraduate degree, and then continued on to The University of William Carey in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, where she earned her master's degree. She has two children; a boy and a girl. The boy's name is Austin, who is about to get married. The girl's name is Morgan. She attends The University of Alabama where she is majoring in Fashion Merchandising.

Mrs. Tucker's home life is your basic American family. She enjoys cooking and baking. Her dog's name is Rusty and he is a Golden Retriever. Her husband is a pastor at Barnwell Baptist church. She loves to attend the Beth Moore Bible studies that they have available there. Mrs. Tucker's favorite Bible verse is, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13. Her family loves to hike in the Georgia Mountains. They visit Blue Ridge, GA where they stay in a log cabin that their friends own and let them borrow every once in a while. "I would love to visit Australia!" she said.

A few interesting things about Mrs. Tucker are, she loves to garden and shop. She said, "Oh! I just LOVE to shop! It's like my favorite thing!" She owns two closets, one for winter clothes, and the other for summer clothes. She enjoys wearing patterned skirts and solid shirts, or anything that matches. Her favorite color is green, because she likes the way it goes with her black pants and skirts.

Mrs. Tucker has never broken any bones. The craziest thing she ever did was roll a lot of people's houses. Her favorite word is discombobulated. She could live off of lasagna and fried chicken. Her favorite form of torture toward her students is threatening to call their parents/guardian! She said, "My favorite quote would have to be... "no one is in charge of your own happiness except you."  I love this quote because a lot of times people blame other people for being unhappy, when you are in charge of your own happiness."

Two seniors that Mrs. Tucker used to teach, Marialeen Ellis and Katie **s, said, "She is one of the best teachers I've ever had in my life, and I will surely always remember her. She is one of the most inspirational teachers I've had. I will definitely never forget her!"
